Saturday 4th July:

German duo DIGITALISM are well known for their energetic and thrilling live shows. Debut album, ‘Idealism’ moved them from the underground to prominence whilst their remix work for everyone from Depeche Mode to Klaxons to Futureheads has brought their name to an ever wider audience. Currently recording the follow up to 2008’s ‘You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into’, DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? have a well deserved reputation for fearsome live shows. Melding the dynamics of a full on rock gig to their electronic sound, the Reading based band have shown their abilities to jump genres with remixes for the likes of Muse, The Raconteurs and Bloc Party.

Already the subject of heaps of critical praise and high hopes for 2009, DELPHIC are the next logical step on from boundary-breakers such as The Klaxons and Late Of The Pier. Comparisons to fellow Mancunians New Order are not wide of the mark but the trio are as influenced by straight dance music and the pop of Xenomania as their illustrious forebears. A key new band for the year, this show is an early opportunity to hear the sound of the future. Already widely renowned as club promoters and remixers to the likes of Bloc Party, Justice and Late Of The Pier, FILTHY DUKES made the logical next step in the winter months of 2008 and began to craft their own tunes that would become the basis of their recently released debut album, ‘Nonsense In The Dark’. With a dream team of guest vocalists and a desire to make a real show rather than hide behind their equipment, expect a surprise or two when FILTHY DUKES take to the stage.

Sunday 5th July:

New album, ‘The Renaissance’ marks the return of one of the most recognisable voices and individual figures in hip-hop.   Former member of the seminal A Tribe Called Quest, Q TIP is a legend in US Hip Hop. A huge influence on those artists that followed them ATCQ and Q Tip are part of the foundations of hip hop and this is a very special show that is sure to be a highlight of the day. Riding high across the world with his smash hit  ‘Right Round’ – the fastest million selling digital release in the US – FLO RIDA is a very special addition to this year’s bill. With a back catalogue that features a clutch of massive hits (including UK number 2 ‘Low’) and new (US No. 1/UK top 5) album R.O.O.T.S. expect a packed field for this eagerly awaited show.

Rapper and singer KID CUDI (aka Scott Mescudi) marked his arrival on the musical map in style earlier this year with debut single, ‘Day N Nite’.  The anthemic hip-house masterpiece hogged the charts for months and has amassed an incredible 21 million plays on Cudi’s MySpace page.  NME have dubbed him “the next rap megastar” whilst The Guardian have declared him “the hottest new hip-hop artist in the US”.  With a debut album on the horizon for later in 2009 expect to hear eagerly anticipated new material at this show from the Kid named Cudi.

The immensely talented DANIEL MERRIWEATHER first came to most people’s attention when he added the vocals to Mark Ronson’s smash hit version of ‘Stop Me’ by The Smiths.  Those in the know however had been checking out this Melbourne born singer for several years and are eagerly awaiting his debut album ‘Love & War’ due this spring.   The recent hit single ‘Change’ gave fans a taster and this live show is sure to win over yet more converts to this 26 year old with the soulful vocals. Grammy nominated, Billboard Hot 100 topping, YOUNG JEEZY is another massive name from the world of US Hip Hop on this year’s bill. With a trio of US Number Ones from his three studio albums, you don’t get bigger than this.

Having guested on Kanye’s album, the UK’s MR HUDSON comes to the festival with high hopes for his second album ‘Straight No Chaser’ on which Kanye acts as executive producer. Feted on the release of their debut album, ‘A Tale Of Two Cities’ in 2007, Mr Hudson look set to rise to further prominence on the release of this to coincide with this show.
