What have you been up to over the past 12 months since you last played for House Rules?
I started Blackwiz again and launched a radio show with it. With such a crazy schedule I also made an album of just good floor house tracks, which will be out early 2010. I also just finished a video for a song called ‘Dirty Sax’, it should be on the air waves in Dec. I will also be a Poster Boy for Pro Tools if I do well, I’m doing a remix competition with them, details of that will be on my website www.sandyrivera.dj so make sure you check it out, you can win over £1,200 worth of studio equipment so if you’re wanting to make music it’ll be a nice little Christmas present for you J
Where was your most memorable gig of the summer 2009?
Tooo many, but Serbia always sticks out the most. 15,000 people in a foam festival. Messy, but a lot of fun J A very vibrant crowd.
Talk us through your studio set up.
I use Pro Tools for just about everything. I have about 6 keyboards and a bunch of analog EQ’s like Api’s 550b with compressors, Neve summing mixer and 2 EQ’s, Avalon 737 and some Tube Tech EQ’s which all allow me to get some real warmth in the mid range area, but I will stay in the computer if it all sounds good already. Although it would all sound better if I took more time with the out board kit.
What do you do to relax and get away from dance music?
To be perfectly honest it’s hard to get away from it. I have made a career of something that is a hobby for most people. I fly so much that I tend to find the nearest spa to get a massage and just chill. This may sound funny, but being in the studio is very relaxing, most people fall asleep if they are just sitting there. I also have children and she takes up the rest of it.

What would Sandy Rivera like for Christmas?
A producer to make the music for me, like other DJ’s have so I can sleep more.
What’s your new years resolution going to be?
Eat well, go to the Gym, don’t consume any pharmaceutical things. Obviously I’m talking about excessive aspirin and Nytol
What does the next 6 months have in store for you?
A lot of fun around the globe partying and a bunch of new projects to get excited about. I’ve got a wicked new band that I’ll be bringing out next year that you should keep an ear out for, it’s kind of like Zero 7 style, more chilled out and laid back, easy feeling. It’s in the final stages now, I’ve been doing it for well over a year, I want to make sure it’s perfect before I put it out there. Also I found a cool new vocalist. Funny story, she rode past my car on her bike and she was singing, I chased her round the corner and got her to come into the studio with me, she’s a total find, we’re working on a track right now so that’ll be out in the next couple of months too.
What can the House Rules crowd expect from you on 5th December?
It’s a great vibe there and I only hear good things from other DJ’s. Expect me to take you back into memorable moment on the dance floor when you first heard a tune you never heard before, but it sends your hands up in the air. That’s all I’m saying, you’ll have to be there to hear it
