T Bar’s very own managing director and co-founder Jaime Ritchie is creating clubbing with a conscience, as she presents ‘Rave Aid’, an evening set to raise funds for the ‘Mission Malawi’ charity. This May Jaime will be taking part in Mission Malawi 4 – a two-week cycle ride across Malawi for the biannual charity challenge, that raises money for HIV/Aids projects run by Action Aid in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. For this very special occasion T Bar welcome come very special guests, Simian Mobile Disco, plus the group force of the T Bar residents providing support on the night.
Simian Mobile Disco are James Ford and James ‘Jas’ Shaw. Their trademark techno sets need little introduction or fanfare. 2010 sees them continue to dj and play live worldwide promoting a series of releases on their new Delicacies imprint and their curated events under the Delicatessen moniker. They first formed Simian Mobile Disco as a DJ partnership, playing around Manchester. Their outstanding DJing got them some much-deserved attention and then led to remixes for bands such as Air, and eventually Simian Mobile Disco began their own original production work. Soon the Mobile Disco name took on a life of its own. The pair have played with groups like LCD Soundsystem, Tiefschwarz and Soulwax as well as also remixing for the The Kills, Ladytron and The Departure.
As a DJ Luca C has been playing extensively for the past 3 years, bringing his blend of disco, cosmic, modern disco and house influenced sounds as far as Japan, Russia and the U.S headlining shows and supporting artists such as Theo Parrish and Frankie Knuckles amongst others. Luca’s love for writing and producing music has led him to recently be involved in co writing Ali Love’s new album on Back Yard records, out later this year. Ben Rymer was one third of legendary Sheffield electro-pop pioneers Fat Truckers, who’s groundbreaking debut album released on Gigolo Records, was one of the most influential releases of the new millennium. Later Ben joined forces with Henry Riton to form Gucci Soundsystem, his new release on DFA is causing a fresh storm on the underground neue disco circuit. Matt Walsh has resided with Turbo Recordings after being seen by Tiga at T-Bar. His residencies at Bugged Out! and T Bar have allowed him to tour the world with his trademark sound of electronic house and techno through to new wave, acid house and disco. Ben Westbeech’s debut cut from his album, ‘So Good Today’, was immediately picked up by Gilles Peterson, who made it the inaugural single for his brand new Brownswood label, and subsequently rinsed it on his Worldwide show. Before its official release the record was voted fifth best single at the 2005 Worldwide Awards, and it has gone on to become one of the slinkiest dancefloor anthems.
