Technique @ The Faversham (Leeds) – Thursday 27th November
Technique was back in town and more than ready to rustle up a bit of midweek mayhem. As an early Christmas present to their ever faithful clubbers, Technique offered free entry before midnight to this much talked about event. The propitious party was held at the Faversham, a trendy Leeds venue near Leeds University which has a long standing relationship with Technique. With international sensation Magda headlining and Leeds’ very own Louche taking over the second room, it was quite apparent why this event was causing so much excitement.
Walking up to the Faversham, you knew this night was going to go off in style. The queue was building up and nobody could wait to get inside. The queue, although long, moved very quickly and the friendly door staff welcomed you into the technical experience. It was unbelievable how quickly the place packed out and everybody was there for one reason: to party. The crowd was energetic and welcoming which delivered ingredients to a recipe destined for success.
In the daytime the Faversham is a very chilled out place but when Technique comes to play the Faversham is transformed into a top notch clubbing venue, delivering to the discerning clubber exactly what they want. There are two main rooms, and an extra space in between the rooms providing a spacious seating area and people are welcomed to come outside the club if they wish to smoke which means that whether you want to dance, sit or smoke, you are well catered for.
Magda was the real appeal for this event, promoting the new Fabric 49 Mix CD. The Polish born, Detroit raised and now Berlin residing superstar took to the decks in style. The Technique resident really pulled out all the stops, pummelling out her distinctive beats, captivating the crowd in the process. Supporting Magda in the main room were David Martin, Jay Kilka and Christian Maiden who all carried out the party with taste.
Louche hold events down at Mint club every second Friday of the month showcasing the latest talent in minimal, house and techno. They have built themselves up quite a reputation in Leeds and they didn’t disappoint with Josh Tweek, Brinsley Kazak, Matt Roche and Tom Frank knocking out quality tunes from start to finish.
The atmosphere was buzzing in the Faversham all night long and the event well and truly delivered. Technique is renowned for delivering quality events down at the Faversham and this one just followed suit: I don’t think anyone can wait for the next instalment!
